Reactions to the Finale, Part 1
Tim travels to the designers homes to check in on their collections, and the last finalist spot gets determined. Post your reactions to Part 1 of the finale here.
Finale Party! (Part 1)
The party room takes to the skies for Part 1 of the finale as we launch the maiden flight of the BPR Learjet. We have first class seats for everyone as we travel from New York to LA and back to New York again, solidifying our status as the kings of American jet-set blogging!
All are welcome to watch together as we get a healthy dose of Tim Gunn folowed by a Chris vs. Rami showdown. And this will not be a dry , dull party like that reunion last week. We've stocked the cabin with plenty of those teeny, tiny bottles of libations to loosen you up a bit for the ride. It's party time - see you on the runway!

BPR Live Play-by-Play: Finale Part 1
Tbone is back this week for live play-by-play coverage of the Season 4 finale, Part 1. This season features a new wrinkle - one last, cruel elimination before the Bryant Park runway. For everyone without access to Bravo, Tbone will do his best to tell you what happens as the episode airs live from the east coast.
Comments under this thread are for you to read and Tbone to post. If you have something to say, the BPR party jet is now boarding above!

Season 5!
Tim spills the beans:
A fifth "Project Runway" season is in the works, Gunn said.
"We begin auditions next month," he said. "We always tape in June. So we have to get a great group of designers together if we're going to start taping in June."
Sounds like they are angling for another fresh batch of designers, dashing the hopes of some for an "all-star" cast of former contestants. Stay tuned for audition dates and locations. Designers, time to get sewing. Thanks to Jessica for the tip!

T.G.I.W.
It's Project Runway finale time! This is one of our favorite episodes because we get more Tim Gunn as he visits the finalists at their homes and pretends to drive around in his Saturn. And season 4 features a new bonus elimination as Rami and Chris face off with their best 3 pieces to determine whose collection gets to count in the final judging.

Predictably, the prognosticating poobah Alan Gratz has posted his predictions for Project Runway's penultimate program.

The World Premiere of Eleven Minutes
The feature documentary Eleven Minutes will have its world premiere at the Philadelphia Film Festival. Mark your calendars and plan be among to first audience to see this film that chronicles the journey of Jay McCarroll to his first independent showing at Fashion Week in September of 2006. The Philly event is scheduled for April 5th at 7:15 and plans are in the works for a party after to celebrate the film, Jay and the filmmakers Michael Selditch and Rob Tate who also created Project Jay.
Team BPR has screened this film and we can tell you that it is riveting. The movie's synopsis tells us it is "an in-depth, painfully raw and humorous exploration of the creative process and the constant conflict of balancing commerce with art, fame with talent, and reality-TV with actual reality." I had no idea how much work and how many people are involved in planning a Fashion Week show. There is tension, there is humor there is triumph and there is pathos all for eleven minutes on a runway. We give this 6 enthusiastic thumbs up.
Save the date, Philly, and more announcements about this event will be forthcoming as plans are developed. There will also be screenings at the Independent Film Festival of Boston,
the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and the New Filmmakers Screenings which has announced their showing for June 25th at 8:15 in NYC. As a fan of Project Runway and fashion you do not want to miss the opportunity to see this film!

BPR Interview With Sweet P
From the Hell's Belles motorcycle club through the underground club scene in LA, few have had a more improbable path to the cast of Project Runway than Sweet P. Our hearts melted when she congratulated Chris and Rami after being the last designer eliminated, but in the end she got to show in Bryant Park anyway. BPR checks in with the popular designer who truly lives up to her name.
BPR: Sweet P, we were thrilled when we saw you appear from behind the scrim at the Project Runway Finale. What was the inspiration for your collection?
Sweet P: My inspiration for the collection was Lee Miller (who I notice is beingwritten about a lot lately). Lee Miller was Man Rays model, muse and girlfriend. She was also a photographer. Lee was ahead of her time. I would call her a modern day Chloe Sevigny. She is a bold , strong woman who has her own sense of style. She is not afraid to wear color in a sea of black. My muse is a hip, pulled together downtown girl.
BPR: Did you receive the same amount of time and budget as the other designers?
Sweet P: Yes
BPR: What was the best thing about appearing on Project Runway?
Sweet P: Meeting and bonding with all the other designers.
BPR: The hardest?
Sweet P: Lack of sleep

BPR Interview With Ricky Lizalde
Some thought he stayed far too long, but Ricky Lizalde fought through his tears and early struggles long enough to taste the winners circle in the Levi's challenge. As we learn in our recent chat, he's been able to keep his head high long after the lights have dimmed.
BPR: Hi Ricky - what an emotional ride this experience was for you. Do you have any regrets about letting it all hang out on the show?
RL: No regrets!! I know that some people may be sick of the crying.... me too!! but I am a stronger and better person and designer for the experience....
BPR: What was the reaction of your family and friends to your elimination?
RL: All my friends and family rooted for me to go all the way.... sorry guys... they are sad but hopeful of my future!!...Me too
BPR: You have been a successful lingerie designer for many years now. Why Project Runway at this stage of your career?
RL: I went on PR to show people who I am........ although I didn't realize you would get to know me so personally.... making it in a business like the fashion industry is hard enough I just thought w/ a little luck hard work and heart I could really do something on the show.......long story short to help my business...

Ask The Fashion Professor
Hi Professor -
After the runway show, how do the clothes shown get turned into sales for the designer?
Thanks!
TropicalChrome
Hi Tropical,
As much as we all the love the glamour, celebrities, excitement and creativity of Fashion Week - hype and publicity can only take a designer so far - you must sell clothes to survive.
Let's pretend you are the fashion designer. Of course, because you are such a smartie, and are independently wealthy or have a very rich backer, you already have a ruthless lawyer, a slick public relations firm, a reliable factory and various other people on your support team who all love you, support your vision completely and have agreed to work for peanuts.
Hopefully, you were wise enough to have the crowd at your show balanced with the right mix of buyers and editors in addition to the celebrities, models and other fierce and fabulous people. The genuinely important people in fashion are the buyers and editors. The editors can get and maintain additional exposure and the buyers will, hopefully, place orders for your clothes.
Of course, you have already finalized the production, merchandising and distribution of your goods - samples have been made and a distribution network is in place to get the goods from the factory to stores.
Fashion Week is only a very small part of the big picture.
It exceptionally rare for a designer new to the game or fresh out of school to sell any or even a fraction of a collection. For designers that have been thru Project Runway it can be very tough dance balancing their new celebrity and the demands of a new line.
Cheers,
Anthony
Congratulations, Christian
You won the on-line vote with the fans at Bravo and the $10,000 prize from Bluefly. Now the BPR readers have a chance to offer their congratulations. This post is only for positive words for Christian Siriano. Click here if you have anything other than kind or congratulatory thoughts.

Reunion Party!
Hi - you remember me, don't you? Morty McSnerdly, that geek in the corner you all used to make fun of? Well, now I'm a gazillionaire geek blogging about reality television in my jammies. Tonight, I get my revenge...mwah-ha-HA! You might want to think twice before trying the punch...
Tonight the BPR party room doors are wide open as we welcome back Carmen, Chris, Christian, Elisa, Marion, Jack, Jillian, Kevin, Kit, Rami, Ricky, Simone, Steven, Sweet P, and Victorya. Will it be a WWE diva throwdown? Come on in and snark away, this is one reunion party you can actually look forward to attending! Just keep your eyes out for that McSnerdly character, he looks a little shifty.

Ah yes, the reunion episode. One last chance for the designing divas to right the record, clear their good names and confront their nemeses. Although we doubt that we will be treated to any classic moments such as Guadalupe Vidal's "Walk The Line" soliloquy, the reunion always brings us a little dishy fun.

Meanwhile, in the spirit of reunion day gossip, how about a story we would normally not touch. Can someone help us out a little and explain why Heidi Klum would ever let Britney anywhere near her children?

We are still not done sharing our story from the Project Runway finale! After the show, we were excited to attend an after-brunch party hosted by Bravo. It was like a giant reunion, with designers from all four seasons in attendance.

Top 5 Looks From Season 4
As we wait patiently for the denouement of Season 4, it's time once again to roll out our popular "Top 5 Looks Poll". Now that everyone has had a chance to see all of the designs and challenges this season, which 5 are your favorites?
Probably the easiest way to look at all of the garments is to go to Bravo's Rate The Runway page where you can sort by episode. To keep everyone consistent, list your five favorites in the comments by number, designer(s) name(s) and challenge like this:
1 - Jack Mackenroth "Sew Us What You Got" challenge
2 - Chris March "What A Girl Wants" challenge
3 - Elisa Jimenez/Sweet P "SJP/Bitten" challenge
4 - Kevin Christiana "What's The Skinny" challenge
5 - Michael Kors "Orange County" challenge (Well, that last one wouldn't count, but you get the idea...)
We'll tally the results and reveal your Top 5 picks in a special countdown beginning on March 1. It's your chance to celebrate the uncelebrated and right some judging wrongs. Who from Season 4 will join Andrae Gonzalo and Robert Best as a Top 5 Looks champion?

The Recap of the Manolo!
The Manolo really outdoes himself this week with the tale of the little fairy elf:
It was then, while the tailor was sleeping his uneasy sleep, that the most miraculous thing happened.
First, there was the faint sound of tiny bells, followed by the strong scent of Aqua Net and Elizabeth Taylor’s “White Diamonds”, and then, with the audible pop, the tiny little fashion elf appeared out of no where! Flouncing around the room, scattering fairy dust and candy kisses.
A must read!

Based upon the 3 best looks in each of their collections, one of them will advance to the finals and will compete against Christian Siriano and Jillian Lewis for the win. So now we ask you two questions:
And which garments do you think they selected as their best?
Tell us in the comments.

From The Mailbox
Entertainment Weekly has posted a great exit interview with Sweet P, Thanks Frank.
The Watcher has posted some interesting behind-the-scenes clips from Bryant Park. Thanks Mo.
Second City Style presents Episode Eleven's memorable quotes. Thanks Lauren.
The Baltimore Sun has posted a story about Christian Siriano.
The New York Post wraps up last night's episode.
Congratulations, Christian
This is the third time in Season 4 that you have won. You made your client happy when you made over her favorite outfit and you thrilled Nina and the other judges with the avant-garde gown. This week you created a complex garment based upon a painting that was artfully executed and masterfully styled. Throughout the season you have demonstrated a clear point of view and your finale collection was selected as the most likely to win and most deserving of the win by our readers (click here). You provoke discussion and you leave us always curious to see your next work and those are attributes that any designer would long to have. Cheers, Christian!
This post is only for positive words for Christian Siriano or his work. If you have anything negative to say about him or another designer, please click here.

Episode 11
BPR Love for Sweet P
The designer out when there are five remaining is always a heartbreaker (Robert Plotkin in Season 1, Nick Verreos in Season 2 and Kayne Gillaspie in Season 3). Our readers thought that you had the best garment in both the prom challenge and the denim challenge. There really weren't any losers this week because in spite of being 'auf' you had the opportunity to show a collection at Bryant Park. From arm-wrestling with Christian to being the muse of MTV's Jim Cantiello, you proved that you were always a winner without ever needing to bring out the evil opposite of Sweet P, Mean P. Michael Kors said that your garments are wearable and flattering and Project Runway has given your work an audience that will want to purchase your products. Before Runway, you were the former biker chick that we wanted to hang with but now we see you as having a vision and a point of view (and we still want to hang with you) - that is a winning situation.
This post is only for positive words for Sweet P. Anything negative or about another designer can be discussed here.

Poll Results - Your Finale Predictions
Many of you have seen the Project Runway Season 4 Finale Collections and we knew that you would have opinions. You certainly did not disappoint! We took two polls to gauge your response to the garments featured last Friday at Bryant Park and the results are in. You predicted that Christian Siriano WILL win the finale and SHOULD win the finale (click here for both poll results). Will our readers predictions hold true? Watch what happens!
T.G.I.W.
So it has come down to this. Five designers remaining and an uncertain number of finalist spots available. Yes of course all five showed brilliantly at Bryant Park last week, but which ones will count? All should be revealed tonight as we prepare for the last (we think) elimination challenge of Season 4.
Team BPR is back in their jammies for this episode as Tbone will provide play-by-play and the party room will be open for show time. Make sure to check back in afterwards and tell us what you think in the reactions thread, it should be hopping!
To help while away the hours before showtime, resident prognosticator Alan Gratz has posted his predictions about tonight's episode. And BPR reader Julie has spotted Season 1 model Melissa Haro in the SI Swimsuit issue! Oh, my.

Ask The Fashion Professor
FIT Fashion Professor, Anthony Cady tackles two more reader questions. The first is from Kathryn:
Dear Fashion Professor,
"The work 'talent' seems to get tossed around pretty liberally applied to fashion designers and Project Runway. What is 'talent' anyway'? Are the designers on the show 'talented'?
Who has been the most talented designer on PR in your opinion?
Thanks,
Kathryn
And this one is from Kate:
Dear Professor,
In today's BPR interview with Victorya Hong, she is quoted as saying, "I think Rami showed a strong collection as well, but I couldn´t understand his color story, and the progression of design."
What exactly doe these two concepts mean and how do they play into judging the success or failure of a collection. For example, I really loved JIllian's collection but have no idea why in the middle of it there was that black and white striped top with the loopy sleeves. What role did that play in her color story and progression of design.
Thank you.
Kate C

BPR at The Finale - Part Three
Laura K: After the show we worked our way down to the runway hoping to interview some of the designers and audience members.
Tbone: I tried to make a play on Heidi but was immediately crushed by the crowd. This was definitely not my scene. I took a step back to take it all in.
Scarlett: I went down to the runway immediately and was part of the crush. There was one huge hive of media with flashbulbs and cameras and I assumed they were taking pictures of Victoria Beckham. One mother had to caution a photographer to not trample her daughter, a toddler that had somehow scored a ticket.

Katy's Take: Episode 10
Katherine Gerdes was everywhere during fashion week. But she still managed to find time to share her thoughts with us on Episode 10.
Okay… help me out here. I’m totally torn between hating and loving this challenge. Is it possible to do both? I had assumed that I would HATE everything about this episode, honestly I can’t think of anything tackier than WWE costumes except for maybe actual stripper wear, but it turned out to be entertaining and had some good results.
So now the question is; do you think “America’s next top designer” can be determined with a challenge like this (imagine if one of your favorites went home over this challenge, for me that would have been Rami getting sent home over that awful pink thing)? Or, do you think a challenge like this actually helps determine who the best designer is because it shows that they have range and can produce something great even with a ticky-tacky challenge like this?
Ugh, I still can’t decide…

BPR Interview With Victorya Hong
Who says you have to be a finalist to show at Fashion Week? Certainly not Victorya Hong. The season 4 designer decided there was no better time to capitalize on her exposure from the show and managed to beat all of her cast mates to the catwalk with her Fall 2008 collection. Victorya tells us all about it as we resume our series of aufed interviews.
BPR: Hi Victorya! We were all happily surprised to see you showing on the opening day of Fashion Week. When did you decide to pursue this?
VH: I´ve been working on getting my line off the ground since we finished taping last summer. So, it was only natural that I work on a Fall collection. It really started coming together in December. Jackie, my model from the show, would come over to fit my samples. Of course, everything looks great on her, so I don´t know if it was an accurate barometer...but the line was looking really strong. With her encouragement, I started to really explore the possibility of showing.
BPR: What is the inspiration for your new collection?
VH: It was very 80s inspired. I am a voracious visual consumer when I begin to research a line. I watched movies, 80s sitcoms, and pored through magazines and images. It was actually pretty fun because the 80s is really my era.
Click here to continue reading our interview with Victorya as she talks about her experiences on the show and picks who she thinks will win Season 4.
